Custer St. lot massacred

Anybody who saw the yard surrounding 22-24 Custer St. before the tree massacre [JP Gazette, Sept. 7] can understand how ugly it has become. At least one of those trees was about 120 years old. I had heard they would be cutting a tree; I was not prepared for what was the final result. The lot has a fine old house that had a beautiful double lot with many tall trees. I envied the people who lived there. Now it is barren and devoid of trees. I used to look at the lot almost every time I passed, but I now avert my eyes.
